Since 2003 left wing pussy Juan Cole has been bitching about the US going to war with Iraq.
First he was saying that we shouldn't go to war, then he was saying that there were no WMD, then he was saying that we were going to be stuck there, then he started talking about civil war and a bunch of other junk I don't understand.
Juan is the perfect example of why American hates liberals and the left wing.
They think just because they are "smart" and study up on a subject and become experts on something, they think that they can know more about it than other people who don't research the topic.
For example, Juan is a professor of Modern Middle East and South Asian History. So of course, when it comes to the Middle East, he thinks that he knows more it than people like Rumsfeld. Idiot.
Well, on February 8th, 2005, neocon columnist Jonah Goldberg, who writes for the National Review, proposed a bold bet to shut Juan up!
I do think my judgment is superior to his when it comes to the big picture. So, I have an idea: Since he doesn't want to debate anything except his own brilliance, let's make a bet. I predict that Iraq won't have a civil war, that it will have a viable constitution, and that a majority of Iraqis and Americans will, in two years time, agree that the war was worth it. I'll bet $1,000 (which I can hardly spare right now). This way neither of us can hide behind clever word play or CV reading. If there's another reasonable wager Cole wants to offer which would measure our judgment, I'm all ears. Money where your mouth is, doc.
Well, the 2 year mark is coming up on Thursday.
I think it's pretty clear who won this bet.
So Juan, pay up!!
"Iraq won't have a civil war"CHECK! Not only has Bush said that Iraq is not in a civil war, but Cheney has said the same thing!
"it will have a viable constitution"CHECK! I heard that they appreciated us liberating them so much that their constitution is like a mirror image of ours, except for using a Parliamentary system instead of a 2 party Congress, and instead of separating Church and state, they are working on becoming a theocracy ruled my Islamic law, and instead of equal rights they allow you to stone women for whatever, but aside from that they really have a great constitution just like us!
"a majority of Iraqis and Americans will agree that the war was worth it"CHECK! Off all the people I know, I would guess that maybe 2-3% of them are not 100% behind the Iraq War. 98% is WAY more than 50%. I bet you would find even BETTER numbers if you took a poll in Iraq! Those guys were liberated by us! You KNOW they are happy we came in there and blew the shit sky high! Anyway, most of the people who were against the war were probably either killed during the war, or blew themselves up in a suicide attack, so they don't get to cast a vote. And the millions of people who fled Iraq for fear of the death squads don't get to vote either, because they are not in Iraq anymore.
So Juan, pay up you liberal hethen!
