Weather is what’s happening in a specific place at a specific time. Weather changes moment by moment.
Climate encompasses the entire planet. Our climate changes slowly.
For instance, high temperatures here in Delaware recently dropped from the forties to the teens within about a week. The overall temperature of the planet Earth changes by fractions of a degree over the course of a decade. The Earth is a big object; as such the laws of thermodynamics tell us that it takes a significant event to upset its thermal equilibrium.

A little COMMON SENSE would suggest that ICE STORMS are caused by THE COLD!! Which would directly contrict Al Gore's little "THEORY". I once spoke at a scientist who told me that ice is formed when water is exposed to COLD temperatures below 32 degrees (that's 0 celsius to all you French bastards). I have been doing research for a paper on global warming and I happened to come upon this blog, which is quite amusing becuase the only person on here that seems to have any knowledge regarding Global Warming what so ever would be the first person that replied to the blog, amusing really.

For the rest of you, Global Warming has yet to be proven or disproven and it will take a while longer for the scientist to agree on anything becuase the government has managed to muddy the waters by giving $4.2 billion a year to global warming research. And for those of you who don't know what that means, it means the money hungry scientist will continue to spout Global warming bullshit as long as they are getting that money.

Did you see the posting on this site about the proof that global warming is caused by Dinosaur farts from just a few thousand years ago?

DUDE THAT IS GREAT...I'm 15 and I love to debate,first off after this period. Global Warming is happening but not the way Liberal's would like you to believe.Global Warming should be called "The earth is not going to end,because Algore says so theory." The earth's warming is naturally going to happen but the ocean as gore would like you to know is not going to rise 20 feet. The earth warms just like it did since the earth was created, by volcanoes which gives off tons more heat, dust, Co2 and other things of the sort. The Co2 concentration is not related to the EARTHS TEMPERTURE. Earth's temp. is going to heat up about 4 degrees then its going to cool 4 degrees to keep equal thermolibrium. For the person with the report good point but Why do the teachers still show the film preaching as if its a god and that is shouldnt be ignored or it might turn hulk on us by drowning polar bears on a computer generated video clip which even if "...polar bears have to swim 60 miles..." they are useless beings living not in your neighborhood, which they breathe so they must put out Co2 right? they sit on there ass crapping(also producing Co2) and eating fish which i think was a fish that maybe endangered soon more on that if you google it. I mean if teacher's are allowed to have middle schoolers given birth control not telling the parents(happend today in Maine) I think they should not just show this movie but allow a TWO-sided arguement (me) be put into place. this blog is outrageous. for those people who are stating the facts about what is really happening i solute you, for everybody else, kindly pull your heads out of their holes in the ground. global warming is happening. it is happening and we are causing it. your claims of a "global cooling" are completely false. as someone above stated, their is fluctuation from year to year of weather patterns. but global warming, as implied by the name "global" warming, happens to the entire world, or "globe". also, it cannot be measured in one year of weather; global warming can only be measured, at the least, by increments of twenty to thirty years.
for those skeptics who say that it does not matter once again, you are wrong. for every 1 degree Celsius that the earth warms at the equator, it increases by 5 degrees at the poles. this would cause for the melting of large bodies o floating ice. puddles form on top of the ice where they absorb more heat (because they are darker that the ice). large sheets brake off(last year one twice as large as the state of Rhode island) and fall into the ocean. it two much of the fresh water from the melting ice mixes in with the salt water, it will stop the atlantic ocean current. this current brings warm water up to european seas where it heats the air. this hot air is what keeps europe livable; if the air stops warming europe, it will plunge it into another ice age. this has happened before. 10,000 years ago the glacial melt water in canada broke forth into the atlantic ocean, sending europe back into an ice age for another few thousand years. another reason that global warming matters is it's impact on biology. for thousands of years, the earths organisms have been living in a specific global food chain. though most organisms will never see many others, they all interact in a giant biosphere. if saving the defenseless animals and plants of the world is not reason enough to stop, consider it's impact on people. people, being animals, are also part of food chains and have their own niche in the environment. a changing biodiversity and climate would have infinitely detrimental effects on the lives of people. as i imagine most people reading this are pro-life or against abortions, i would like to point out that fully developed, non embryonic people are also alive and human and therefor should not be killed

By the way. Almost every scientist says global warming is happening, and i highly doubt that Al Gore paid them off. The earth is said to be around 4.55 billion years old and the universe is about 13.73 Billion years old. why do you people think that corporations are behind global warming? corporations are the ones who want to silence global warming scientists. they have large investments industries like manufacturing and oil, and therefor do not want interference. they are huge carbon emitters and do not want any regulations or controversies.

People are offended each time you mention global warming might not be caused by man. It is happening but is a shift in temp, the same as it has been for as long as we have records. Does anyone remember proposals to dump chemicals on the ice caps in the 70s for fear of another ice age? What about the global warming outcry in the 1930s? That not good enough what about the fear of global cooling in the 1920s? I wish the media could make up its mind or just give it some time.

If everyone is so worried about global wamring - look to nuclear. With simply a few more plants in our nation we would have enough electricity to make it almost $0.00. (Kinda like bandwith over time getting cheaper to almost a zero point.) With that we can run desalinization plants allowing fresh water to be sent all over the nation. Then we can covert all to electric vehicles becuase charging it would almost be free. Then there is no dependence on oil. We can run it on our submarines wihtout any danger, but not on land? Everyone says what about Chernobel, well a collapsing Russia isnt building a plant like we can now.
